Woke Babies Introduction – Dionne: Living Motherhood Creatively

Welcome to my world, whoever you are reading this! My name is Dionne and I’ve been me for 29 years and a mum for only 18 months of those.

About me

I arrived at the notion, somewhere after my son’s traumatic birth, that I needed to find a way to work with the new normal. In a nutshell; an emergency C section, and my baby being admitted back to hospital at five days old gave me an incredible crash landing into Motherhood. It really gave me food for thought, who would have guessed it?

I’ve always had an interest in writing; my background has covered working on various PR projects. I then moved to focus on the frontline side of things, as a Keyworker with a number of vulnerable groups.

Six months after becoming a Mum in 2018, I made a choice with my partner to take a leap of faith. We packed up our home and upped sticks to Barcelona, following a job offer we couldn’t resist.

I hope I can share some personal, fun, interesting, arty, crafty, foody, points of view that might be of interest and help you continue ‘Living Motherhood Creatively’. My Instagram is of the same name and I look forward to writing for you all.

If I had to share a quote with you, it would be one from somebody I admire. Sociologist and researcher of human connection, Brené Brown:

“Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity. It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity. If we want greater clarity in our purpose or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.” – Brené Brown
